Ali Ahmed

Web Developer

Hey, I'm Ali — a web developer from Baghdad with a degree in Computer Engineering from UOB and 3+ years of experience building things for the web.

I'm someone who genuinely enjoys the work. Fixing a bug that's been bothering me all day, or seeing a project finally come together and work the way it should — that stuff doesn't get old. I like figuring things out, I like doing it with good people around me, and I probably spend more time on problems than I need to. I just don't like leaving things unfinished.

My story with web dev goes back to my first year at college. There was a bootcamp called MASSARAT — a frontend course backed by USAID — and I wanted in. One problem though: my laptop was basically a brick. The battery was dead, so it only worked plugged in. 4GB of RAM, slow as anything, and I was already using Linux just to make it usable. Taking it anywhere wasn't really an option.

So I asked my friend if I could borrow his laptop. He said yes, I finished the bootcamp, and that was that.

After that I got an internship, they kept me on full-time, and I've been working as a web developer ever since — moving through different companies, picking up experience along the way, and still getting that same satisfaction every time something ships.

That's pretty much me. I build things, I figure things out, and I don't really wait for perfect conditions to get started.
